The alchemical symbol for Brimstone / Sulphur / Sulfur
Utilised by Anton Szandor LaVey in The Satanic Bible as the seal above The Nine Satanic Statements, the Brimstone Symbol is now widely associated with Satanism and recognised as a Satanic symbol. Over the years since 1969, versions of this symbol, along with the Sigil of Baphomet, have found their way into the album artwork and merchandise of various black metal and death metal bands inspired by the Satanic aesthetics created by Anton LaVey. Heavy metal Satanist King Diamond is the most notable musician associated with the Brimstone Symbol and his logo incorporates it prominently, leading many to refer to it as "the King Diamond Symbol". In recent years the bands Rush and The Lindbergh Baby have also made use of the Brimstone design.
The meaning of the symbol and the reason for its inclusion by LaVey in The Satanic Bible has been interpreted in many ways with much speculation over its significance with Satanism and the The Nine Satanic Statements. A Satanic elucidation of the emblem has been made by artist and Church of Satan Magister Lang, suggesting the symbolic connection to Yggdrasil / the tree of life (stem and branches) and Ouroborous / Leviathan (figure eight at the base).
Intrigued and excited by this enigmatic emblem since first encountering it in The Satanic Bible, we were inspired to create our own unique range of Brimstone Symbol clothing and infernal items.
